Sound knowledge of market conditions and expected price trends is the basis for successful energy trading. EGL has its own market analysis centre whose research services are available to customers as well as to the EGL Group.

Market developments are monitored according to three parameters: location, development over time, and the various types of energy (commodities). In other words, EGL’s specialists analyse developments in different European countries and energy markets, and relate those developments to a specific time frame.

EGL’s centre of excellence for market analysis produces scenarios, using various models, for future electricity and CO2 price developments, which are also a basis for overall assessments of future European energy market trends. It also analyses the influence of political and economic developments on energy prices. The findings of this research are made available to the entire EGL group via a professional information platform. They make an invaluable contribution to the success of the trading activities and to operational optimisation of the Group’s own power plants.

EGL also issues regular reports on its market analyses through publications on a range of topics and markets. The company makes these reports available to its customers and in certain cases to the general public.
